The D740 line is hard to beat and is one of the best options for civilians looking for a precision night vision riflescope. The D740 Gen 3 Standard features high-grade multi-coated optics, a low profile heavy-duty Picatinny Rail Mount, and is waterproof. The system features the only reticule in the world that is user-selectable between amber or red Mil-dot. We have spent long hours behind this scope during testing and have found the amber reticule to cause less eye fatigue. The color selection is located on the power switch and reticule intensity is standard on these units. We have demoed the D740 to numerous LE and Federal agencies who are using them for clandestine operations in our high desert regions. They are also in use by US forces across the globe.

The D740 Standard is an excellent, lightweight option for those needing a solid night vision platform with excellent maneuverability and handling in the field. Its low profile makes it an exceptional optic for use on weapon platforms with limited rail space. We have found it especially handy on carbine-length AR15’s.

In some of the “through the tube” NV pics, you will see a slight shaded area running vertically. ANY rear-projected reticule riflescope has a “darker” reticule-plate stripe. This is due to the coating on the etched plate to reflect red/amber light back towards the eyepiece. The 4x system will have a more pronounced reticule-plate due to the lower magnification and a slightly higher overall brightness. This phenomenon is virtually undetectable with the naked eye (in opposition to a much more sensitive camera) and in no way impairs the performance.

The D740 is one of the best options available for military and LE work, but is also perfectly suited for the civilian varmint hunter. In fact, we send a lot of these units to our hog and coyote-hunting clients in the great American state of Texas! They provide us with fantastic After Action Reports and plenty of great trophy pics.
