Known commercially as the M949, the AN/AVS-6 / AN/AVS-9 Aviator’s Night Vision Imaging System (ANVIS) is the original Gen. 3 binocular night vision device, originally designed, as the name might suggest, for aviation use (the “AVS” in “AN/AVS-6/9” actually stands for “Aircraft-Mounted Visual Search” according to the Joint Electronic Type Designation System – JETDS). However, almost immediately, ground users began using and adopting the ANVIS for ground use, from Iraq to… Iraq (the second time), not being fully replaced in many units by more ruggedized, dedicated ground systems until well after the introduction of the AN/PVS-31A Binocular Night Vision Device. Even today, the ANVIS still remains an extremely lightweight and versatile ground system.
TNVC is extremely pleased to be able to introduce a brand new product to our line-up, the ANVIS “Sportsman” Goggle, available EXCLUSIVELY at TNVC. In this case, “ANVIS” stands not for Aviator’s Night Vision Imaging System, but Auto-Power Night Vision Imaging System.
One of the most popular features of the ANVIS, especially amongst ground users is the automatic on/off capability offered by the aviation-style ANVIS mount (often referred to as a “ball-detent” mount), which unlike most common night vision binocular systems which use a solid dovetail mounting configuration, the ANVIS utilizes a “hot” mounting interface, delivering power from an external battery pack to the goggle that is only engaged when the goggle is in the deployed position, automatically and mechanically shutting off the goggle without the need to toggle switches, knobs, or buttons.
These new TNVC ANVIS “Sportsman” Goggles are USED Refurbished Trade-Ins, refurbished by Aviation Specialties Unlimited (ASU-NVG), THE leading provider of aviation night vision solutions.
These systems are low-hour, top of the line pre-owned aviation systems that have been inspected, refurbished, and repaired by Aviation Specialties Unlimited and restored to almost new condition and removed from FAA Flight Certification and offered through TNVC as a “Sportsman” Ground System.
***NON-AVIATION CERTIFIED — NOT FOR AVIATION USE***
These systems utilize low-hour L3Harris Unfilmed White Phosphor High FOM (2376 Minimum) Aviation Grade / Spot Spec image intensifier tubes with tube data records included with every system. These tubes are some of the CLEANEST and highest performing image intensifiers available offered at an unbelievable price in these “Sportsman,” making them on of the best values in the night vision industry.
Unfortunately supplies of these TNVC ANVIS “Sportsman” systems are extremely limited — because they are “certified pre-owned” refurbished units, supply depends on the the availability of used systems meeting both TNVC and ASU-NVG’s exacting standards of quality to be able to be offered as TNVC ANVIS “Sportsman” units, once in-stock units are sold out, it may be some time before more are available, so don’t delay, get yours today!
