Description
Wilcox Industries designs some of the most sophisticated and user-centric night vision helmet mount systems available. The first reaction people tend to have is to balk at the price tag. Sure, it is expensive, but like everything: you get what you pay for. Wilcox helmet mounts are, literally, works of engineering art. They are designed with direct input from US Warfighters at the very tip of the sharp stick. These designs are refined until they reach perfection and are then masterfully crafted in Wilcox’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility.
The Wilcox Binocular Bridge System for the Oasys SkeetIR and IR Patrol allows users to head-mount these thermal monoculars for hands-free application. The bridge is completely modular. It can be configured for single or dual optic use.
The Bridge System interfaces with standard Wilcox dovetail mounts such as the popular G24. It allows the individual monoculars to be rotated out of the way, giving operators the option to run their binocular system like a monocular. Or, if they choose, both units can be pivoted up out of the way instead of flipping the goggle mount up. Another benefit of this feature is the ability to lay the goggle flatter against the helmet shell surface when it is flipped up. This is a huge bonus to operators who know how obtrusive a flipped-up goggle can be. By pivoting the units flat against the helmet, the operator’s head is lower profile, greatly decreasing the possibility of damaging the goggles or getting hung up on an obstacle.
When used in binocular mode, the Bridge allows operators to set the inter-pupillary distance with a stop plate. It is easily adjusted with a thumbscrew and prevents the optic from overshooting the eye when placed in operational position. While most users will probably only use this mount in single thermal monocular mode (after all, having two thermals starts to get pretty expensive), it does allow the operator the unique ability to mount an IR Patrol on one side and a PVS-14 on the other. This requires the user to purchase the Wilcox PVS-14 Helmet/Weapon Mount Shoe separately. No, this configuration does not provide a fused image. But, it does provide the user the ability to instantly switch between thermal and night vision use by pivoting one device out of the way. This can be useful during a stationary surveillance.
The Wilcox Binocular Bridge Mount is extremely versatile and provides the best helmet mounting option for Oasys SkeetIR and IR Defense IR Patrol (M250 / M300W), even when used in single configuration. The mount is only sold as a set and is not available as single modules.
