What are the requirements for hosting an LE-only Nightfighter course?

  • Douglas Shaw

Hosting an LE-only Nightfighter course involves two key aspects:

  1. Student Recruitment:
    • Hosts should assess the potential student base and generate interest to help fill seats.
    • TNVC will also promote the course to attract additional participants.
  2. Venue Requirements:
The venue must meet the same standards as any Nightfighter 101 class, including:

    • Ability to shoot in low and no-light conditions for extended periods
    • Range distances of 3m to 50m (100m preferred)
    • A minimum of 8 lanes for rifle and pistol use
    • Target stands
    • Pistol- and rifle-rated steel targets
    • At least four VTAC-style barriers
    • A classroom with seating for 20 personnel, tables, chairs, power, and A/V capabilities
    • A structure suitable for movement and dry fire practice (e.g., a shoot house, empty large building, etc.)
