*** THE WILCOX G24 HAS BEEN UPDATED TO THE SAME TRAVEL DISTANCE AS THE G22E AND IS THE RECOMMENDED MOUNT DUE TO THE BREAKAWAY FEATURE **
Wilcox Industries designs some of the most sophisticated and user-centric night vision helmet mount systems available. The first reaction people tend to have is to balk at the price tag. Sure, it is expensive, but like everything: you get what you pay for. Wilcox helmet mounts are, literally, works of engineering art. They are designed with direct input from US Warfighters at the very tip of the sharp stick. These designs are refined until they reach perfection and are then masterfully crafted in Wilcox’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility.
The G22E is a variant of the extremely popular G24 night vision goggle helmet mount. The G24 has become the unofficial go-to mount for U.S. and Allied NATO SOF units. Spring-boarding off its popularity and taking into consideration operator feedback, Wilcox developed the G22E. The G22E features a dovetail interface for direct attachment of standard dovetail NVG’s such as AN/PVS-15, AN/PVS-31, TNV/Sentinel, GPNVG-18, etc. It is one of the most adjustable mounts available with full vertical, fore/aft, and tilt adjustment to place NVG’s in proper position for operators. Incorporating operator feedback, Wilcox increased the length of travel for the horizontal adjustment, giving the G22E a total of 1.4″ (approx 1/3″ more than the legacy G24. Current model G24s have the same 1.4″ distance). This added length helps to better accommodate shooters wearing protective or corrective eye-wear and gas masks. It also makes wearing the IR Defense IR Patrol M250 much easier due to the longer length of the thermal housing.
When flipped up into the stowed position, the G22E places the goggle in a more vertical orientation in front of the helmet. This helps provide a lower profile for the operator, assisting them in negotiating the battlefield.
Regardless of the benefits, we are still asked about the price. Our answer is always this: why would you want to mount your expensive NVG’s on the cheapest mount you can find? Wilcox has and continues to set the bar to which all other mounts are measured.
