Law Enforcement Night Fighter 101

Law Enforcement Night Fighter 101 is designed to provide Law Enforcement professionals with a solid understanding of the fundamentals of night vision operation and use. Beginning with gear choice and setup, the class provides students the tools for learning to safely / effectively move, shoot, and communicate in low-light/no-light environments. Students will participate in a variety of movement and live-fire exercises aimed at producing a core competency with night vision goggles, lasers, and white light. Since this in an “open enrollment” style course open to officers from different agencies, the ability for officers to share relevant information with each other is also a benefit. Tuition payment for the LE-only classes can be paid through either the agency or the individual.

Contract Law Enforcement Night Vision Training

TNVC recognizes that technology alone, without the proper education and training to employ it, is not enough. What sets TNVC apart is our “education first” philosophy and our dedication to provide Law Enforcement the absolute best night vision equipment and training.

Our training team’s diverse real-world experience allows us to provide flexible and adaptable curriculum to provide specialized training that is safe, realistic, and practical to Law Enforcement agencies with different levels of Night Vision knowledge and experience.

Examples of the variety of training that TNVC can provide at the agency level can include but not limited to:

  • An 8 hour block of instruction for agencies that may have just received their night vision equipment and need basic instruction on set up, function, and fundamental use of night vision equipment.
  • A 16 hour class that would follow our Law Enforcement Night Fighter 101 curriculum as described on the previous tab.
  • A 24 hour class that would build on an agency’s already existing Night Vision skillsets. This class would focus on preparation for real world operations through a variety of tactical tasks including team movement and communication, target discrimination/engagement with live fire and/or NLTA (Non-Lethal Training Ammunition), and exterior and interior movements.

Our team will work with your agency/department to help tailor our instruction to meet your requirements and needs. If you have any questions or would like to schedule training please email [email protected]

Law Enforcement Demos

TNVC understands that adding Night Vision technology to your agency’s list of capabilities can, at times, seem confusing and overwhelming considering all the technical aspects and the individual components that compromise the complete Night Vision system. In keeping with TNVC’s legacy of providing support for the Law Enforcement community and our core principle of night vision education and its tactical application, TNVC can provide Night Vision technology demonstrations for interested Law Enforcement agencies.

These demonstration events will be a one-day event (approximately 6-8) hours. The event will introduce agencies to night vision technology, its capabilities, and Law Enforcement considerations for using night vision technology. After a short “classroom” session, there will be a “hands on” session covering the individual night vision system components and their set up. Lastly, officers will be able to wear and sample current night vision devices and the supporting components in a variety of environments.

Ideally, these demonstrations are for agencies that already have funding ready or available for purchasing but are not sure of what capability they are looking for. This will allow agencies to make the most of their available resources, maximizing their capabilities while staying within their budget.

TNVC can provide helmets, the night vision devices and lasers.

If you would like more information about the demonstration event, please contact [email protected] from your agency email account. You can use your personal email account if preferred, however we will require you to validate your status.

Visit our LE FAQs tab for additional information about our other Law Enforcement classes.

Prerequisites
In accordance with ITAR Regulations, only U.S. Citizens will be accepted to participate in TNVC courses. NO EXCEPTIONS. Proof of citizenship is required.

This demonstration event is only available to local, state, or federal Law Enforcement Agencies.

Law Enforcement FAQs

Why does TNVC offer Law Enforcement-only courses? We strongly encourage our Law Enforcement professionals to attend our open enroll courses for several reasons: they get exposure to non-LE shooters, all the information in the course is common for the audience, and the diversity of the student base makes for excellent discussion and learning points in the class.  However, there are times that a Law Enforcement only class works well: when the class can occur during the duty week (can reduce agency costs, officer time off, etc.) and for locations where open enrollment classes cannot occur (select police ranges, etc.).

What is the difference between an open enrollment Nightfighter 101 and an LE-only Nightfighter 101?  There is no difference between the core topics, drills, and applications that we do in the open enrollment Nightfighter 101.  In the LE-only course, we will discuss in the lecture some LE-specific topics such as funding/resourcing equipment, establishing agency policies, establishing an agency training program, and other relevant topics.  Otherwise, we are doing the same thing in any other Nightfighter 101 class we offer; we just don’t want to have open enrollment students lose interest with some LE-oriented topics and discussion.

When and where will LE-Only Nightfighter classes be offered?  We are open to training in various locations and venues.  We will announce locations as we establish classes and hosts.  If you are interested in hosting an LE-only course, please email [email protected] and we will discuss opportunities.

What are the requirements for hosting an LE-Only Nightfighter course?  We ask for host assessment of the potential student base/interest and getting the word out to help fill the seats.  We will also advertise the course to get additional interest.  For the venue, our requirements are the same as any other Nightfighter 101 class we teach:

  • Ability to shoot in low and no light conditions for extended periods of time
  • 3m to 50m (100m preferred) flat range distances
  • Minimum 8 lanes for rifle and pistol use
  • Target stands
  • Pistol and rifle rated steel targets
  • Minimum four VTAC-style barriers
  • Classroom with seating for 20 personnel, tables, chairs, power, and audio-visual capabilities
  • Structure for movement dry fire/movement use (can be shoothouse, empty large building, etc.)

Who can attend an LE-only Nightfighter course?  We welcome any currently serving and credentialed local, state, or federal Law Enforcement professional to these courses.

How do I sign up for an LE-only Nightfighter course?  If you are interested in attending an LE-only course, please email [email protected] from your official/duty email address.  We will then verify your LE status and send you a link to register for the class.

I see a LE-only class in my area, but I am not a police officer, can I still attend?  At this time, the LE-only classes are restricted to currently serving Law Enforcement Officers.

I am a LEO, but my agency will not pay for the training, but I can/will pay for the class.  Will that work?  Yes!  Tuition payment for the LE-only classes can be through either the agency or the individual.

I am not issued night vision equipment from my  agency.   Is rental gear available?  Yes.   TNVC has a limited number of complete systems (helmet, mount, NVD, laser) available for rent.  Please mention that you will need rental gear when you register.

Export of Night Vision Equipment or related accessories (such as manuals) is strictly regulated by the US Department of State in accordance with the guidelines of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). It is a major crime to ship or carry US manufactured night vision devices outside the borders of the United States, punishable by fines and prison sentences. Ignorance of these regulations will not hold up in court. By purchasing night vision equipment from TNVC, you attest that you will not attempt to export or carry this night vision equipment outside the borders of the United States. Also, it illegal to allow a non-US Citizen to look through US Gen3 Night Vision Devices, even on US soil. Again, this is a crime punishable by fines and prison sentences.
