TNVC PRO Driver Jeff Westphal & Peregrine Racing Ready to Fight to the Finish at Motul Petit Le Mans

Peregrine Racing Ready to Fight to the Finish at Motul Petit Le Mans

Braselton, Georgia (Sep. 27, 2022) — As the 2022 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship enters the final weekend, the series heads to Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta for the famed Motul Petit Le Mans. Saturday’s 10-hour endurance event not only marks the end of the season, but also marks the completion of Peregrine Racing’s first full year of IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship GTD competition.

The Peregrine Racing CarBahn Motorsports full-season lineup of Robert Megennis and Jeff Westphal will add Corey Lewis as a third co-driver to the team’s roster to tackle the 10-hour endurance race from behind the wheel of the No. 39 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO.

As the 2022 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship comes to a close, so does Peregrine’s debut full-season campaign. The team has had many high points throughout the season, including the team’s endurance race debut at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, and punctuated by three GTD class podium finishes, with the first coming at the team’s home race at Laguna Seca.

Entering the final IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge race, Peregrine’s CarBahn Motorsports crew are set for Tyler McQuarrie and Tom Dyer to pilot the No. 93 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport for the final time this season in this Friday’s Fox Factory 120 race. This is the first time McQuarrie and Dyer will be paired up in a sprint race this season, and Team Principal Mark Siegel is bullish on a good result.

“For the season finale at Petit Le Mans, we are running pro lineups in both the GT4 and GTD cars and hope to show what we’re capable of,” noted Siegel. “Despite some challenging moments this season, both the Porsche and Lamborghini have shown the pace to be front-running cars. We have had some podium finishes, but we’ve also been plagued with bad luck that has resulted in too many DNFs. With Tyler and Tom in the IMPC race, and Corey joining Jeff and Rob in the Huracàn this weekend, there’s no reason we can’t have a top three finish in both races.”

The Motul Petit Le Mans weekend begins Wednesday, September 28, and the field will see the green flag fly for the 10-hour event at 12:10 p.m. ET on Saturday, October 1. Full flag-to-flag coverage can be streamed on NBC Peacock, and television coverage begins on NBC at Noon ET, with further coverage on USA Network from 7-10:30 p.m ET. INSIGHT FROM THE GTD COCKPIT:

Robert Megennis

“Petit Le Mans is my favorite race of the year at one of my favorite tracks. Corey and I have both finished on the podium at this race and Jeff has won it. We had a good test a few weeks ago. I think we’ll be starting the weekend strong, and we have the team to put together a great race. I am hyped! Let’s end the year off on a high.”

Jeff Westphal

“Petit is one of my favorite events all year. Road Atlanta is such a fast lap, a relatively short one with lots of traffic and big closing speeds. With it being the finale of the 2022 season, I’m excited to cap it off well with Rob and Corey and go out with a bang.”

Corey Lewis

“I’m beyond pumped to be back with Jeff, Rob and the entire Peregrine team for the season finale at Road Atlanta. The guys have built up a ton of momentum over the past few races and I look forward to finishing on a high note! It’s a been a great freshman season with No. 39 crew and I’m forever grateful for the opportunity to drive for this group! Road Atlanta is one of my favorites! Such an awesome event and I can’t wait to get to work!”

INSIGHT FROM THE IMPC COCKPIT:

Tyler McQuarrie

“Every team and driver goes into Atlanta wanting to end their season on a high note, and it’s no different for us. Our entire team has worked so hard this season and I want nothing more than to give them a solid result. I’m very excited to be paired up with Tom Dyer and I honestly think we are in a position to give the team their best result of the year.”

Tom Dyer

“I really look forward to racing the No. 93 Peregrine Racing Carbahn Motorsports Porsche in the Michelin Pilot Challenge finale at Road Atlanta this weekend. It’s a great opportunity to reunite in the same car with my longtime friend and teammate Tyler McQuarrie.  We’ve got a really good car with our Porsche Cayman GT4, and we’re all looking forward to finishing up the 2022 season with a strong finish. I love racing and driving at Road Atlanta and I want to thank our owners and everyone who supported the idea of Tyler and I driving together this weekend. This is going to be good!”
