The Cyalume LightShape is a green circular light marker measuring 3″ in diameter, for providing instant illumination, that can be seen up to a mile away for up to 4 hours in optimal conditions. The LightShape is waterproof, non-toxic, non-sparking, and non-flammable. To activate the circular light marker, bend, snap and shake the marker. The light marker has an adhesive back for attaching to surfaces (peel off the paper backing to adhere). The markers come in boxes of ten, and each marker has up to a four-year shelf life from date of manufacture.
The durable, waterproof, external body of the light marker is made from low density polyethylene (LDPE), and is phthalate free for safety. The internal illuminating chemical substance is non-toxic and non-flammable, and the components of the light marker are recyclable. The light marker floats in water and works best between 40° to 80° F (4 to 27° C), and although the light marker works at higher or lower temperatures, it is less effective in colder temperatures.
Lightshapes, like all other Cyalume products, are awesome markers. Their size and adhesive ability are perfect for material, location, and vehicle identification. But, they can also be used for triage in casualty marking. Their use is virtually limitless!
Standard 3” Lightshapes are sold in packages of 10 and are available with runtimes between 3-8 hours.
All LightShapes are tested at a temperature of 72° F (22 degrees C) to determine the illumination duration. Each 10° C (50° F) increase or decrease in temperature doubles or halves the reaction rate, and therefore the brightness and duration. For example, the same LightShape that emits approximately 30 lux (a unit that describes how much light is visible over a square meter) at 15 minutes after activation at 24° C (75° F) will be half as bright but glow twice as long at 14° C (57° F). At 34° C (93° F), the same LightShape would be twice as bright, but glow half as long. Storage at elevated temperatures (above 120° F or 49° C) will decrease shelf life and start to soften the plastic, and increase the risk of a leak. Exposure to cold temperatures will not affect the light sticks if they are warmed above 40° F (4.5° C) before activation, unless they are frozen (which occurs at -15 to -20° F, or -26 to -29° C). Once LightShapes have been frozen, they will still produce some light, but performance will not be as reliable. Humidity and atmospheric conditions do not affect the LightShapes.
