Based on the U.S. Marine Corps’ SBNVG (Squad Binocular Night Vision Goggle), the AN/PVS-31D is a lightweight BINOD (Binocular Night Observation Device) using Elbit Systems of America U.S. Gen 3, Pinnacle Mil-Spec filmed White Phosphor image intensifier tubes. The AN/PVS-31D Goggles features independent articulation with automatic pod shut off when articulated and includes adjustable diopters, built-in IR illuminator, and includes IPD stops.

The AN/PVS-31D can be combined with a thermal clip-on device (E-COTI or TAD) to enhance warfighter performance and agility with capabilities for overlaid image intensifier and infrared imagery.

It is designed for use by the individual in a variety of ground-based night operations, and is manufactured according to the USMC SBNVG performance specification.
