For too long, buyers looking for a more affordable US Made Gen 3 Night Vision Monocular have had to shop in the used night vision market which can carry a level of risk that most are uncomfortable with such as unknown origins, build quality, and lack of warranty. At TNVC, we have received a huge number of requests to offer a more affordable but still high quality US Made Gen 3 Binocular goggle option. We listened, have been diligently working on a solution, and are now proud to offer these systems!!

Brand new US Made Gen 3 image intensifiers are expensive so in order to bring the cost down to a much more affordable price for the average retail customer, the TN/UNM ” Talon” (Ultralight Night Vision Monocular) utilizes a US Made Gen 3 image intensifier with a slightly used photocathode that has been re-potted and professionally rebuilt using a brand new autogated power supply in MX-11769 manual-gain control format for use inside the TN/UNM “Talon” . The photocathodes originate from either L3Harris or Elbit Systems of America image intensifiers. The minimum performance of these tubes is at or near current Mil-Spec and they have very clean cosmetics. The TN/UNM “Talon” housing is brand new as are the optics which are Mil-Spec manufactured by Noctis Industries (formerly Carson Industries). This system is built in-house by TNVC and carries a 2 Year Warranty on the image intensifier, Lifetime Limited Warranty on the housing & optics, and includes the standard 14-day return or exchange if you are not happy with them!

The Nocturn Industries U.N.V.M. “Talon” is an ultralight, full-featured night vision monocular engineered around a carbon-fiber reinforced thermoplastic composite that cuts size and weight while boosting durability versus legacy PVS-14 housings, without giving up the controls or PVS-14 optics/accessory compatibility you already know.

At just 53g in its CR123A configuration (housing weight), the Talon comes in at roughly 50% lighter than a standard AA PVS-14 housing (115g), a real difference you’ll feel during long nights and extended headborne use.

One knob. All functions.

The Talon’s single tactile control knob keeps the interface fast and glove-friendly:

• Press/hold: power ON/OFF
• Rotate (detent): gain adjustment
• Double-tap: activate onboard IR illuminator (with in-view indicator); tap once to deactivate
• With IR ON: rotate to adjust IR brightness
• Enable/disable auto-off when stowed through the same control
• Low battery indicator provides replacement warning

 

Compatibility and modularity

• Accepts standard EGAC MX-11769 tubes and 3-pad MX-11769 “Euro-style” tubes without modification
• PVS-14 J-arm style mount compatible (works with standard PVS-14 mounting J-arms/accessories)
• Compatible with PVS-14 spec optics and 18mm MX11769 styles (EGAC pigtail or 3-pad), and MX-10160 style (with loss of gain control)
• Interchangeable tube pod across the Talon and Nocturn Raptor binocular product lines

 

Power options

• Ships standard with a CR123A battery cap
• Optional AA and CR2 caps available for quick swaps using the existing battery-cap lanyard

MIL/LE note

For MIL/LE applications, the Talon can be configured with an onboard highlight cutoff sensor by special order.
