*** YOU MUST MEASURE THE PVS-14 OBJECTIVE LENS INFINITY LOCK RINGS TO CONFIRM THEY ARE COMPATIBLE WITH THE PBM MOUNTING RINGS WHICH MUST BE ABLE TO SLIP OVER THE INFINITY LOCK RINGS. THE I.D. (INSIDE DIAMETER) OF THE PBM IS 1.465″ / 37.211mm. THE LOCK RINGS MUST BE A SMALLER SIZE. A DIGITAL CALIPER IS REQUIRED FOR ACCURATE MEASUREMENT***
Based on the TNV/PVS-14-PB—A, the TNV/PVS-14-NPBM-D is a response to requests for a lower cost and lighter weight version of the PBM-A, deleting the centralized power supply, but retaining the stirrup and fastener attachment of the PBM-A that allows the best possible lockup and alignment of dual PVS-14s into a retrofit binocular configuration.
The NPBM-D is the lightest dovetail mounting PVS-14 bridge currently on the market, weighing in at 2.93 ounces and is constructed from Delrin polymer and 6061 T6 anodized aluminum, it is one of the most affordable PVS-14 bridges on the market, and requires no modifications to the host unit and is compatible with all MIL-SPEC PVS-14, AN/PVS-14, TNV/PVS-14, and NG/PVS-14 systems.
The PBM-A and NPBM-D was originally conceived to provide an option for military and law enforcement customers that already have large fleets of PVS-14 MNVD (Monocular Night Vision Device) and provide them with BNVD capability, offering improved depth perception and motion parallax, increased situational awareness, and PID range. While purpose-built BNVD systems remain a superior solution under most circumstances, it is not always realistic for large organizations to purchase brand new BNVD systems or pay for expensive conversion programs to rebuild old devices, especially when they already have fully functional and serviceable PVS-14s.
While bridging two PVS-14s is not the most ideal configuration for binocular night vision devices (BNVDs), the PBM-A and NPBM-D are responsive to such organizations, as well as civilian enthusiasts that already have PVS-14 units, and do not want to purchase a new device or perform costly conversions to their existing devices, or may want to retain the ability to have two totally independent devices.
The NPBM-D mounts using a BNVS-style dovetail interface, compatible with industry standard and issued Wilcox Industries and Norotos dovetail mounts, and providing greatly improved, secure and positive lockup compared to the current USGI “bayonet” interface typically used with the PVS-14 when used with the USGI “J-Arm.”
The NPBM-D features independently articulating arms, allowing users to adjust the interpupillary distance (IPD), as well as swiveling one or both monoculars out of the way if the user needs to use their natural vision. This rotating feature, also allows the goggle to stow more closely to the user’s helmet, both distributing the weight more evenly, and allowing the user to maintain a lower profile when the goggles stowed.
The NPBM-D is manufactured in the U.S. out of Delrin polymer and 6061 T6 aluminum.
