Norotos Facemask NVG Mount Assembly

The Norotos Face Mask is a safe, reliable, durable, and (most importantly, comfortable) NVG head mount system. The Face Mask was designed to meet mission requirements that dictated use of night vision devices, but not helmets. These include recce and surveillance missions as well as those requiring speed and stealth more than ballistic protection. Norotos developed two versions of the Face Mask to accommodate a range of the most-used night vision goggles. The unit features a padded suspension system that cantilevers the NVG off the user’s face rather than their temples, relieving stress and pressure. The leather-covered pads are attached to a hinged sub structure that helps the mask conform to the face. An adjustable nylon 3-point head harness runs from the Face Mask to a mesh section that conforms to the back of the user’s head. A fourth strap runs from the base of the mesh to the user’s chin, providing the last support structure. This system of straps and pads distributes pressure and weight more evenly over across the head and face, allowing the Norotos Face Mask to be worn for longer periods in comfort.

We have all used the Mil-Spec Head Harness, if not operationally, then at least to try it on. And, we all know it is horribly uncomfortable and must have been designed by a masochistic engineer with no knowledge of ergonomics. But, there are times when a non-helmet mounted system is needed and the Norotos Face Mask serves those needs. It can be worn in relative comfort for hours. You will still experience pressure, though. After all, you are cantilevering a weight off the front of your head. But, this is one of the best options available for those needing a low profile mount for head-worn NVG’s.

Export of Norotos products is controlled by the U.S. Department of Commerce under Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the U.S. Department of State, Directorate of Defense Trade Controls Bureau of Political-Military Affairs, in accordance with 22 U.S.C. 2778-2780 of the Arms Export Control Act (AECA) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). (22 CFR Parts 120-130) regulate Wilcox products.
