The RNVG-A (Ruggedized Night Vision Goggle – Articulating) is designed to be the most rugged articulating night vision goggle. The original RNVG earned the well-deserved reputation among civilian and professional users as the toughest night vision goggle available in the industry. The same RNVG-A shares the same engineering with its 7075 aluminum construction. Controls are simple with push button power and illuminator buttons that are protected from accidental activation.
While most articulating goggles are built with molded polymer housings, the RNVG-A features full 7075 aluminum construction for unsurpassed rigidity and structural strength. All articulation points have been beefed up to increase impact resistance, giving users one tough goggle ready to face the toughest customers and harshest environments!
Traditionally, the weakest point in an articulating BINOD is the hinge or attachment points from the hinge to the optic pods. These areas account for the majority of catastrophic breakage when a goggle is dropped or hit. Part of this reason is that these areas are polymer and the metal screws that attach the hinge to the polymer optic pods can get ripped out. While there are some seriously impact resistant polymers out there, it’s hard to beat aluminum for strength to weight ratios and the metal screws attach metal to metal. Both the optic pods and bridge in the RNVG-A are machined from solid billet 7075 (a material that is 36% stronger than most common steel), to give end users the strongest articulating goggle on the market (not to mention a little piece of mind). Careful design and advanced machining keep the weight down to 20 oz. with a battery installed.
The RNVG-A utilizes a single CR123 battery, and comes with an auxiliary power connector for use with ANVIS-style auxiliary battery packs such as the AB Night Vision Ground Optimized Battery Pack.
RNVG-A housings are anodized black, but Cerekote finishes are available. The tan goggles shown in the images are Coyote Cerekote.
